LEWIS MITCHELL
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
A LIL BIT ABOUT ME
Every director needs an assistant... and that's where I come in. Coming to university, I knew I wanted to work in film, I didn't know what I wanted to do, but I had that passion. It was here, at uni, that I found my footing in the Production Management Department. I began to learn that my talents and skills in organisation and timekeeping were best suited to this department, and I have put this into action predominantly as a 1st AD. As an AD, it's important to understand what each role consists of and how long these tasks take to ensure you're running the shoot as efficiently as possible. Now with experience ADing multiple projects, I know how long it'll take the gaffer to light the scene and how much time the director needs to block it with the actors.
Think of me as a right-hand man to, not just the director, but the whole crew.
